An Investigation of the Frequency and Duration of a Drive Spoon-Dispersed Water Jet and Its Influence on the Hydraulic Performance of a Large-Volume Irrigation Sprinkler

Pan Tang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of frequency and duration of drive spoon-dispersed water jet on water distribution and uniformity. The experiment demonstrates that increased working pressure and decreased distance between counterweight-installed position and rotation axis lead to an increased frequency and decreased duration of the water jet. Adjusting the distance from the counterweight improves application rates and increases distribution uniformity.

Assessment of Contamination Management Caused by Copper and Zinc Cations Leaching and Their Impact on the Hydraulic Properties of a Sandy and a Loamy Clay Soil

Anastasia Angelaki et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of Cu and Zn cations on the hydraulic properties of sandy and loamy clay soil samples in Central Greece. Metal solutions with increased concentrations were used to contaminate the soil samples, demonstrating significant effects on the hydraulic properties. Loamy clay soil showed increased metal adsorption and hydraulic parameter values, while sandy soil did not exhibit any impact on aggregation and soil structure.

Effects of Textural Layering on Water Regimes in Sandy Soils in a Desert-Oasis Ecotone, Northwestern China

Chengpeng Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of textural layered soils in the desert-oasis ecotones in northwestern China, and analyzed the effects of different soil-textural configurations on water regimes. The results showed that the thickness of a medium-textured layer had a significant positive correlation with soil water content, while burial depth had minimal effects on water retention properties.

A critical review of the Water Sorptivity Index (WSI) parameter for potential durability assessment: Can WSI be considered in isolation of porosity?

A. J. Moore et al.

Summary: This paper examines the Durability Index approach used in South Africa, suggesting that porosity should be adopted as an additional index. It concludes that sorptivity cannot be interpreted without also considering the porosity value, as these two parameters are interrelated.

The effect of sorptivity on cumulative infiltration

A. Angelaki et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of sorptivity on water infiltration mechanisms in various soil types, through both mathematical analysis and laboratory experiments. The results suggest that sorptivity significantly affects infiltration processes, particularly in more synectic soil types. Estimating sorptivity could lead to improved irrigation planning, flood prediction, and water conservation strategies.
