Summary: Machine-learning algorithms for olive-tree phenology modeling heavily rely on temperature data, but this study shows that including a wider range of environmental data can lead to a more accurate prediction model. Despite the worsening accuracy of temperature data when replacing weather-station measurements with remote-sensing records, the addition of more complete environmental data improves the efficiency of predicting olive-tree phenology. Techniques such as filtering and feature selection are employed to analyze variable impacts on phenology prediction, enabling the inclusion of measurable information in decision support frameworks for sustainable management of olive-tree systems.
