Occurrence and Identification of Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliensis and Dickeya dianthicola Causing Blackleg in Some Potato Fields in Serbia

Sanja Markovic et al.

Summary: Blackleg outbreaks were observed in three fields in Serbia for two consecutive years, leading to a decrease in plant yield. Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliensis and Dickeya dianthicola were identified as causative agents, with genetic characterization revealing multiple genotypes. Multiple genetic profiles and a new D. dianthicola genotype were discovered through MLSA analysis in Serbia.

The rhizosphere microbiome plays a role in the resistance to soil-borne pathogens and nutrient uptake of strawberry cultivars under field conditions

Cristina Lazcano et al.

Summary: Microbial-root associations play a crucial role in helping plants resist abiotic and biotic stressors, with resistant cultivars showing higher abundances of beneficial bacteria in their rhizosphere microbiome. Further research on these plant-microbial interactions is needed to develop low-input disease management strategies.
