A Step Forward in Thermoplastic Polyesters: Understanding the Crystallization and Melting of Biobased Poly(ethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate) (PEF)

George Z. Papageorgiou et al.

Summary: Three samples of biobased PEF with different molecular weights were synthesized and their crystallization behavior was studied using various techniques. The results showed that the rate of isothermal crystallization decreased with increasing molecular weight. Multiple melting endotherms were observed in the DSC heating thermograms, which could be attributed to recrystallization/reorganization phenomena. By combining the results from different techniques, a better understanding of the crystallization and melting of thermoplastics was achieved.

Effect of ultrasonication time on microstructure, thermal conductivity, and viscosity of ionanofluids with originally ultra-long multi-walled carbon nanotubes

Bertrand Jozwiak et al.

Summary: The study found that the ultrasonication time is a critical factor affecting the microstructure, thermal conductivity, and viscosity of INFs during preparation. Shorter ultrasonication time resulted in the highest thermal conductivity enhancement, while extending the ultrasonication time led to a decrease in the average length of nanotube bundles and a decline in thermal conductivity.

Molecular mobility and crystallization of renewable poly(ethylene furanoate) in situ filled with carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoparticles

Dimitra Kourtidou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the enhancement of crystallization and molecular mobility in PEF by filling it with carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoplatelets. The addition of CNTs is found to be more effective in facilitating crystallization than GNPs due to their larger aspect ratio. The molecular mobility of PEF is influenced by the fillers and crystallization, with fillers serving as nucleating agents for controlling semicrystalline morphology and small molecule permeation.
