Flexural Behavior of a Novel Textile-Reinforced Polymer Concrete

Daniel Heras Murcia et al.

Summary: Textile reinforced concrete (TRC) has gained attention in the construction industry for its lightweight, high tensile strength, design flexibility, corrosion resistance, and long service life. This study proposes a novel type of TRC, called textile reinforced polymer concrete (TRPC), which replaces the cement binder with a polymer resin. The TRPC showed significantly improved flexural capacity, superior ductility, and substantial plasticity compared to TRC.

Investigation of the flexural behavior of textile reinforced concrete with braiding yarn structure

Mutlu Kurban et al.

Summary: Textile reinforced concrete is a new construction material. This study investigates the flexural behavior of TRC samples by using braided hybrid yarn, and finds that the flexural strength and toughness increase with the use of hybrid yarn.

Shear strengthening of reinforced concrete T-beams with anchored and non-anchored CFRP fabrics

Sakir Yazman et al.

Summary: This study investigated the strengthening of shear deficient T-beams with different CFRP configurations. Results showed that the contribution of EBR to shear capacity is significant and depended on anchorage angle and strengthening type. Among all methods, full wrapping CFRP and partial CFRP with a 45-degree anchorage type yielded the most effective results in enhancing shear capacity and stiffness while improving ductility significantly.

Behavior of CFRP-strengthened RC beams with circular web openings in shear zones: Numerical study

Yasin Onuralp Ozkilic et al.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of reinforced concrete beams with circular openings and the effects of strengthening them with CFRP. Various parameters such as the opening/beam height ratio, concrete compressive strength, stirrup spacing, and CFRP application type were considered in the analysis. The study identifies important parameters that affect the performance of the beams and provides recommendations for CFRP strengthening based on different conditions.

Strengthening of shear-critical reinforced concrete T-beams with anchored and non-anchored GFRP fabrics applications

Sadeq A. H. AL-Shalif et al.

Summary: This study investigated the behavioral changes of reinforced concrete T-beams with insufficient shear strength when strengthened with glass fiber reinforced polymer composites (GFRP) in different configurations. The results showed that increasing the bonding surface between GFRP and concrete prevented shear failure and GFRP strips with lower bonding surface and anchorage were more effective in terms of ductility.

Numerical investigation of the parameters influencing the behavior of dapped end prefabricated concrete purlins with and without CFRP strengthening

Yasin Onuralp Ozkilic et al.

Summary: This study conducted a series of numerical modeling using the finite element program ABAQUS to investigate the shear damages of prefabricated concrete purlins (PCPs). The effects of various parameters on the shear capacity of PCPs were studied, and it was found that the most significant parameter is the orientation of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP).

Research on flexural performance of composited RC beams with different forms of TRC permanent formwork

Shiping Yin et al.

Summary: This study compared and studied the bending performance of U-shaped and single-plate TRC template composite beams in construction using TRC as a permanent formwork, finding that the U-shaped formwork composite beam had better bending performance than the single-plate formwork composite beam. The TRC formwork composite beams showed improvements in cracking load, yield load, and ultimate load compared to ordinary reinforced concrete beams, with smaller crack widths and slower development, although with reduced ductility. Overall, the TRC formwork composite beams exhibited better load-bearing capacity and durability.

Research on the bonding performance of TRC permanent formwork and cast-in-place concrete

Shichang Li et al.

Summary: The study investigates the interface bond between TRC permanent formwork and cast-in-place concrete, finding that regardless of processing, the bond performance is superior to traditional formwork. By treating the interface, adjusting TRC formwork parameters, and adding chopped fibers, the ultimate bearing capacity of composite beams can be improved while reducing strain.

Reinforced Concrete Slabs Strengthened with Lap-Spliced Carbon TRC System

Hyeong-Yeol Kim et al.

Summary: The study introduced an accelerated construction method to strengthen reinforced concrete slab-type elements using precast lap-spliced textile-reinforced concrete panels. By experimenting with tensile behavior and flexural failure tests, the study found that the TRC system's performance was significantly influenced by the lap splice length and matrix properties. The ultimate load of strengthened RC slabs increased by up to 24% when using TRC panels, and the re-strengthening of damaged slabs with TRC panels resulted in significantly increased initial cracking load and stiffness.
