Effect of Acidic-fog on performances of HTV silicone rubber with AC energized

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of acid environment on the performance of high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber used in composite insulators. The results show that the performance of silicone rubber is degraded under the combined action of acid fog and voltage, resulting in the destruction of the surface structure, severe cutting of polymer side chains, and worsened hydrophobicity. The duration time, charged voltage, and acid pH value have an impact on the material properties.
