Alterations in the histological features of the intestinal mucosa in malnourished adults of Bangladesh

Md. Shabab Hossain et al.

Summary: The study found that about 95% of adults, regardless of their nutritional status, were diagnosed with chronic non-specific duodenitis on histopathology. Malnourished adults were significantly more likely to suffer from chronic active duodenitis compared to their well-nourished counterparts, as well as having a higher frequency of subtotal villous atrophy, crypt hyperplasia, and marked cellular infiltration in the lamina propria.
