Probing electron and hole colocalization by resonant four-wave mixing spectroscopy in the extreme ultraviolet

Horst Rottke et al.

Summary: Extending nonlinear spectroscopic techniques into the x-ray domain allows for unique insights into photoexcited charge dynamics. We have observed a third-order nonlinear process in lithium fluoride (LiF) and found that resonant four-wave mixing (FWM) can be used as a sensitive probe for charge localization.

Table-top extreme ultraviolet second harmonic generation

Tobias Helk et al.

Summary: The lack of high flux and coherence in available table-top XUV sources has limited the use of nonlinear XUV and x-ray spectroscopies to free-electron lasers (FELs). This study demonstrates second harmonic generation (SHG) on a table-top XUV source, opening up new opportunities for studying element-specific dynamics.

Helium ion beam lithography and liftoff

Sabaa Rashid et al.

Summary: The helium ion beam lithography and liftoff process offers significant advantages over electron beam lithography, including fast patterning, negligible proximity effects, and transferability among different substrates. The process allows for precision alignment of nanostructures to microstructures, and has been used for resolution trials and device demonstrators with excellent results in optical measurements.

Generation of structured coherent extreme ultraviolet beams from an MgO crystal

A. Korobenko et al.

Summary: Short wavelength high-harmonic sources are undergoing intense development for applications in spectroscopy and microscopy. Spatial control over coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) beams remains a challenge, but a new approach using nanostructured MgO crystal shows potential for applications in shaped light beams. This demonstration paves the way for bridging applications of shaped light beams from visible to short wavelengths, with uses in microscopy and nanoscale machining.
