Alice Urbankova et al.

Summary: This study used a complex manual dexterity haptic test to predict the performance of dental students in preclinical operative dentistry examinations. The results showed that the accuracy scores of the students on the test improved and the failures decreased with each repetition. Students who failed all or most of the attempts had lower scores on the first practical examination and a higher odds of failing the examination. These findings confirm previous studies and suggest that the haptic test may be useful in improving the dental school admissions process if replicated in larger cohorts.
