Spatial Optimization of Mega-City Fire Stations Based on Multi-Source Geospatial Data: A Case Study in Beijing

Wenda Wang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the actual coverage of fire stations in central Beijing under different traffic situations using points of interest data and multi-time traffic situation data. A method for optimizing the spatial distribution of fire stations was proposed, evaluating fire risks and constructing a multi-scenario road network. The research results suggest the need for 15 additional fire stations to provide sufficient coverage in high fire risk areas of Beijing.

Assessing the influence of point-of-interest features on the classification of place categories

Vasileios Milias et al.

Summary: The paper studies feature importance for classifying unlabeled POIs into categories, defining five feature sets and exploring the influence of different features on POI categorization. It shows that operation based features are the most important predictors of place category and that utilizing feature combinations improves classification performance by an average of 15% in terms of F1-score.
