Samira Alfayumi-Zeadna et al.

Summary: This study analyzed an intervention that provided tailored clinic staff training and aimed to reduce postpartum depression (PPD) among low-income Bedouin women in southern Israel by raising awareness and providing social support. The results showed that the intervention group had a greater decrease in EPDS score and positive EPDS change compared to the control group. High PPD awareness contributed to positive EPDS change in the intervention group, and high social support protected against negative EPDS change in both groups.

Pathways Linking Intimate Partner Violence and Postpartum Depression Among Jewish and Arab Women in Israel

Nitza Shwartz et al.

Summary: Research shows that there is a direct link between intimate partner violence (IPV) and postpartum depression (PPD), and IPV also indirectly affects PPD through increased chronic stress and reduced social support. Arab women had higher levels of IPV and lower social support, independent of sociodemographic differences. Additionally, unplanned pregnancies seemed to increase the risk of both IPV and PPD.
