STUDY ON THERMAL COMFORT OF WOOD TABLETOP MATERIALS

Bai Jue et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to investigate the contact temperature and thermal comfort when the upper extremity touches a wooden table top, and to seek an efficient accurate simulation device instead of human testing. The results show that the ambient temperature, type and thickness of material all have significant effects on the local contact temperature. The simulation device in the study is not only simple to operate, but also can continuously and stably replace the heat transfer process of the upper limb.

The reinforcing effect of lignin-containing cellulose nanofibrils in the methacrylate composites produced by stereolithography

Xinhao Feng et al.

Summary: Lignin-containing cellulose nanofibrils (L-CNF) were used to reinforce 3D printed methacrylate (MA) resin, and the reinforcing mechanism was investigated. The addition of L-CNF significantly improved the mechanical and thermal properties of the 3D printed composites due to its surfacial-coated lignin and high aspect ratio, increasing the mechanical interaction between L-CNF and MA matrix.

Numerical and theoretical analysis of the contact force of oval mortise and tenon joints concerning outdoor wooden furniture structure

Wei-Lian Fu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the contact force of oval mortise and tenon joints to better understand the mechanical mechanism of outdoor wooden furniture structure. Experimental and numerical simulation methods were used to study the effects of moisture content, interference fit, and grain direction on contact force, and a theoretical model was proposed to predict contact force.

Effects of Adding Methods of Fluorane Microcapsules and Shellac Resin Microcapsules on the Preparation and Properties of Bifunctional Waterborne Coatings for Basswood

Lin Wang et al.

Summary: In this paper, urea-formaldehyde resin microcapsules with shellac resin as core material were prepared and their application in waterborne coatings was studied. The results showed that the coating with 10.0% fluorane microcapsules and 5.0% shellac resin microcapsules exhibited better performance and had thermochromic and self-healing functions.

Effect of the Addition of Shellac Self-Healing and Discoloration Microcapsules on the Performance of Coatings Applied on Ebiara Solid Board

Yanzhao Qin et al.

Summary: The study found that adding self-made shellac microcapsules and discoloration microcapsules did not significantly affect the hardness of the coating, but it was able to reduce the surface roughness. The optimum comprehensive performance was achieved by adding 15.0% shellac microcapsules in primer and 20.0% discoloration microcapsules in topcoat.

A novel waterborne polyurethane coating modified by highly dispersed nano-boron carbide particles

Yingchun Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, waterborne polyurethane coatings were modified by adding nano-boron carbide particles and treating them with polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol to achieve proper dispersion and increase chemical interactions. The results showed that PEG6000 enhanced the interaction between nano-B4C and WPU, improving the physical performance of the coatings. A coating with 15 wt% nano-B4C addition exhibited the best performance in terms of abrasion and hardness, attributed to the uniform dispersion of nano-B4C particles in PEG6000 solution.
