Clinical assessment of generalized ligamentous laxity using a single test: is thumb-to-forearm apposition enough?

Sean Cahill et al.

Summary: The study showed that using a single maneuver like the thumb-to-forearm apposition test to identify generalized ligamentous laxity (GLL) has a poor positive predictive value, excellent negative predictive value, and modest specificity. The thumb-to-forearm apposition test was equally effective in identifying GLL in males and females. Other upper extremity tests for GLL perform similarly.

The Beighton Score as a measure of generalised joint hypermobility

Sabeeha Malek et al.

Summary: The Beighton Score is a standard method for assessing joint hypermobility, but its ability to accurately reflect generalized joint hypermobility is controversial. Clinician judgement should play a key role in identifying or excluding joint hypermobility, rather than relying solely on the Beighton Score.

OpenPose: Realtime Multi-Person 2D Pose Estimation Using Part Affinity Fields

Zhe Cao et al.

Summary: This work presents a real-time approach to detect the 2D pose of multiple people in an image, achieving high accuracy and real-time performance regardless of the number of people in the image. By refining PAFs separately, both runtime performance and accuracy are significantly improved. Additionally, the first combined body and foot keypoint detector reduces inference time and maintains accuracy compared to running them sequentially.
