Summary: The study demonstrated that TTP, leak volume, and Mallampati classification can be utilized to assess upper airway patency in adult patients with tracheostomies undergoing an SV trial. A TTP of <= 9 cm H2O may indicate adequate upper airway patency to tolerate the SV trial.
