Assessing the accuracy of fabricated implant surgical guides by reconstructing the implant position based on cone beam computed tomography images: A dental technique

Rui Zhang et al.

Summary: A protocol is presented for qualitatively reviewing the accuracy of fabricated implant surgical guides. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans are made once the guides have been inserted and fixed intraorally. Implant positions can be recalculated by processing the sleeve images on the CBCT scans. This protocol offers an opportunity for double-checking the accuracy of a fabricated guide before surgery in certain circumstances.

Digital Impressions in Implant Dentistry: A Literature Review

Simone Marques et al.

Summary: The accuracy of digital impressions in implant dentistry is influenced by various factors such as the depth and angulation of the implant, operator experience, choice of intraoral scanner, and environmental conditions. The design and material of intra-oral scan bodies, as well as scanning techniques, seem to have a significant impact on the accuracy of digital impressions in implant dentistry. Future research is recommended to focus on optimizing the design of intra-oral scan bodies and scanning protocols.

Fully versus conventionally guided implant placement by dental students: A randomized controlled trial

Kasper Sondergaard et al.

Summary: This study compared fully guided and conventionally guided implant surgery performed by dental students, finding significant differences only in facio-lingual apical deviation and facio-lingual angular deviation, where the conventionally guided group deviated more from the ideal position. Overall, the fully guided protocol resulted in lower facio-lingual angular deviation and apical deviation, with all implants in both groups placed according to clinical guidelines.
