Emission inventory processing of biomass burning from a global dataset for air quality modeling

Ernesto Pino-Cortes et al.

Summary: Wildfires generate significant atmospheric pollutants annually, presenting a challenge in developing an emission inventory for air quality modeling. This study processed biomass burning emissions from 2014 using the Global Fire Assimilation System, focusing on black carbon, organic carbon, and particulate matter. Results showed highest emissions in Africa and northern Australia, providing valuable information for future local air quality modeling.

Processing methodology of global anthropogenic emissions for air quality modeling

Ernesto Pino-Cortes

Summary: The study used NCO software to preprocess anthropogenic sources in the CAMS dataset and convert them into input for the SMOKE model. An analysis of the central coast of Chile compared global databases with official reports for the on-road transport sector, revealing some differences in populated locations. The methodology could be applied for air quality modeling studies in other regions.

Evaluation of ocean dimethylsulfide concentration and emission in CMIP6 models

Josue Bock et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the characteristics and trends of surface ocean dimethylsulfide concentrations and fluxes into the atmosphere from four Earth system models. The models generally underestimated observed climatology in historical simulations but compared more favorably to recent observation-based datasets. The models showed disagreement on the trend of global DMS flux, with changes in surface DMS concentrations playing a dominant role in driving these trends.
