Summary: In this study, a spatially separated multiwavelength filter based on a 2D chirped fiber grating is proposed. The resonant fields of lasers with different wavelengths are spatially separated, reducing cross-gain modulation. The structure of the 2D chirped fiber grating is analyzed, and the spectral output characteristics of the device are investigated for different grating parameters.

Numerical Analyses of the Polarization Dependent Cladding Mode Coupling in Localized Fiber Bragg Gratings

Summary: The polarization dependence of cladding mode coupling in fiber Bragg gratings plays a significant role in the excitation of surface plasmon resonances for sensing applications. Numerical analysis reveals that both centric and eccentric LFBGs allow strong coupling to cladding modes, with eccentric LFBGs showing a strong polarization dependence. Cladding modes with even and odd azimuthal orders respond differently to input polarizations in eccentric LFBGs, resulting in unique polarization dependence in the transmission spectra.
