The influence of frequency containment reserve flexibilization on the economics of electric vehicle fleet operation

Summary: In recent years, the spot and ancillary service markets have become important sources of revenue for stationary battery storage systems. This paper develops a simulation model using data from commercial EVs to calculate the available power of an EV pool. The analysis shows that shorter service periods can increase the pool's available power, and commercial fleets offer reliable power during idle times. The analysis of the German FCR market demonstrates potential revenues for EVs in the range of 450 euro/a to 750 euro/a.
