High efficiency laser resonance ionization of plutonium

Alfredo Galindo-Uribarri et al.

Summary: Resonance photoionization spectra of plutonium were studied using Ti:Sapphire lasers to develop efficient laser ionization schemes for ultra-trace analysis. Various excited states were observed, leading to a highly efficient three-step scheme with significantly improved ionization efficiency compared to previous methods.

Terbium Medical Radioisotope Production: Laser Resonance Ionization Scheme Development

Vadim Maratovich Gadelshin et al.

Summary: Terbium (Tb) is a promising element for theranostic applications in nuclear medicine. The use of laser resonance ionization is essential for providing high quantity and quality radioisotopic yields for Tb production. Research has shown that a suitable two-step laser resonance ionization process for Tb can achieve a high ionization efficiency of 53% and highlighted the necessity of radiochemical purification procedures to remove impurities.

Production of Sm-153 With Very High Specific Activity for Targeted Radionuclide Therapy

Michiel Van de Voorde et al.

Summary: Samarium-153 (Sm-153) is a radionuclide with favorable decay characteristics for targeted radionuclide therapy, but its full potential is not currently being exploited due to limited specific activity. A new production method was developed to produce Sm-153 with higher specific activity, allowing for its potential use in targeted radionuclide therapy. This study demonstrated the potential of combining neutron irradiation with mass separation to supply high specific activity Sm-153 for application in targeted radionuclide therapy.
