Physical and mechanical properties of flamboyant (Delonix Regia) pod filled polyester composites

E. O. Achukwu et al.

Summary: This research aims to develop lightweight polymeric composite materials using flamboyant pod as a matrix and investigate their properties and potential applications. The results show that a loading of 10 wt% produces the best mechanical properties, making it suitable for non-load bearing and indoor applications in the automotive and building industries.

Synthesis and Characterisation of Sugarcane Bagasse and Pineapple Leaf Particulate Reinforced Polyester Resin Matrix Composites

Babatunde Bolasodun et al.

Summary: In this study, sugarcane bagasse and pineapple leaf particulate reinforced polyester resin composites were developed and characterized. The composites showed good dispersion of particulates in the polyester resin. The sugarcane bagasse reinforced composite exhibited the highest tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact energy, and the properties of the composites improved with increasing concentration of the reinforcement.

Experimental evaluation of bamboo fiber/particulate coconut shell hybrid PVC composite

Adeolu A. Adediran et al.

Summary: The study involved incorporating bamboo fibers and particulate coconut shell into a PVC matrix to improve the mechanical properties of the composite material, resulting in enhanced strength and durability. However, thermal and electrical properties decreased with decreasing fiber content. An increase in hardness and wear loss index was observed with the intermix of coconut shell and bamboo fibers.

Poly(vinyl chloride) Composites with Raspberry Pomace Filler

Jacek Mirowski et al.

Summary: Adding 20% of raspberry pomace filler after extraction significantly extended the thermal stability time for the composites, but as the concentration of filler in the PVC matrix increased, the composite density, impact strength, and tensile strength values decreased significantly while their modulus of elasticity and Shore hardness increased.

Combined Damage Influence Prediction of Curved Composite Structural Responses Using VCCT Technique and Experimental Verification

Vikash Kumar et al.

Summary: The influences of crack and delamination on a laminated doubly curved shell structure were computed using a finite element tool, modeling individual damages with the virtual crack closure technique and considering curvature effects. Model validity was established through comparison with available results and in-house experimentation, examining the effects of damages on natural frequency and strain energy release rate by varying input geometrical parameters. The model's inclusive characteristics and geometric configurations were summarized for future reference.
