Photovoltage oscillations in encapsulated graphene

Jesus Inarrea et al.

Summary: We theoretically analyze the rise of photovoltage oscillations in hexagonal boron-nitride encapsulated monolayer graphene when irradiated with terahertz radiation. Our simulations reveal important oscillations in the photovoltage, similar to irradiated magnetoresistance in semiconductor platforms but in the terahertz range. The oscillations are affected by the voltages applied to the graphene and the frequency dependence is also investigated.

Demonstration of high sensitivity of microwave-induced resistance oscillations to circular polarization

M. L. Savchenko et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the inherent property of microwave-induced resistance oscillations (MIRO) in solid-state two-dimensional electron systems (2DES) is not immune to the sense of circular polarization. The researchers found that the MIRO signal can be increased up to 30 times for the cyclotron resonance active helicity, which is consistent with the transmission and absorption shape of Drude. Additionally, the study investigates the extrinsic near-field effects that can produce an apparent immunity of the photoresponse using 2DES as a sensitive sensor of the polarization state.

Radiation-induced magnetoresistance oscillations with massive Dirac fermions

Jesus Inarrea et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the radiation-induced magnetoresistance oscillations in 2D systems of massive Dirac fermions, specifically graphene and boron nitride. Clear oscillations were observed at terahertz and far-infrared frequencies, with predictions of zero resistance states at certain power levels. Interestingly, observable oscillations were found at temperatures above 100 K and even at room temperature for higher frequencies.

High harmonics of the cyclotron resonance in microwave transmission of a high-mobility two-dimensional electron system

M. L. Savchenko et al.

Summary: This study reports the observation of magneto-oscillations in transmittance of circularly polarized microwave radiation through a high-mobility two-dimensional electron system. The oscillations are consistent with simultaneously measured microwave-induced resistance oscillations in DC transport. Despite the small relative amplitude, the oscillations significantly modulate the absorption coefficient, demonstrating sensitivity to high-frequency dissipative effects in high-mobility systems.
