Investigation of NOx emission under different burner structures with the optimized combustion model

Qian Yao et al.

Summary: As restrictions on NOx emission become stricter, the development of control strategies has been a focus. In this study, an efficient optimization procedure using a surrogate model and evolutionary algorithm is proposed to optimize combustion model parameters, leading to consistent temperature and concentration fields with measurements. It is found that the length of pilot wall and jet wall has an impact on NOx emission, with the optimal condition achieved when their lengths are equal and further reduction seen when the pilot wall is 30 mm longer than the jet wall.

Emission prediction and analysis on CH4/NH3/air swirl flames with LES-FGM method

Zhenhua An et al.

Summary: This study investigates the emission characteristics of CH4/NH3/air co-firing premixed swirling flames, using a model combustor and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) coupled with flamelet generated manifold (FGM) model. The results show that the addition of ammonia can improve NO emissions, while factors such as residence time and temperature also play important roles in NO concentration profile.

Large eddy simulation of the Cambridge/Sandia stratified flame with flamelet-generated manifolds: Effects of non-unity Lewis numbers and stretch

Weijie Zhang et al.

Summary: The turbulent stratified flame (SwB5) is simulated using LES and FGM combustion model, with three 3D FGM manifolds adopted. The non-unity Lewis number is found to be crucial for CO prediction, and flame stretch has limited impact on velocity fields.
