Fabrication of 1D/2D BiPO4/g-C3N4 heterostructured photocatalyst with enhanced photocatalytic efficiency for NO removal

Xiaotian Wang et al.

Summary: A 1D BiPO4 nanorod/2D g-C3N4 heterostructured photocatalyst was successfully synthesized for efficient visible light photocatalytic removal of NO. It showed higher NO removal activity compared to pure BiPO4 and g-C3N4, attributed to broadening light response range and promoting separation and transfer of photogenerated electrons and holes. This study may lead to a new approach for designing BiPO4-based heterostructured photocatalysts for NO removal under simulated solar light irradiation.

Facile fabrication of flower-like NH2-UIO-66/BiOCl Z-scheme heterojunctions with largely improved photocatalytic performance for removal of tetracycline under solar irradiation

Fahang Xu et al.

Summary: A novel Z-scheme 3D flower-like NH2-UIO-66/BiOCl composite was fabricated through a facile solvothermal method, where NH2-UIO-66 expands the optical absorption range of BiOCl and facilitates the separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Photocatalytic performance experiments showed that the removal efficiency of the composite for TC-HCl was higher than that of NH2-UIO-66 or BiOCl under simulated solar irradiation.

In situ synthesis of novel type II BiOCl/CAU-17 2D/2D heterostructures with enhanced photocatalytic activity

Feihu Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel type II BiOCl/CAU-17 2D/2D heterostructure photocatalyst was synthesized via in situ growth of ultrathin BiOCl on the surface of CAU-17 nanorods through a solvothermal process. The 2D/2D heterostructures provide a large specific surface area and tight interfacial contact, which facilitate carrier migration. The introduction of CAU-17 enhances the light absorption ability of BiOCl/CAU-17 photocatalysts. The staggered type II heterostructure energy band alignment promotes the separation of photoexcited carriers.

Synthesis of clinoptilolite-supported BiOCl/TiO2 heterojunction nanocomposites with highly-enhanced photocatalytic activity for the complete degradation of xanthates under visible light

Pengfei Zhou et al.

Summary: A novel ternary BiOCl/TiO2/clinoptilolite (BTC) nanocomposite with highly-enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light was successfully prepared via a facile hydrothermal route, showing excellent adsorption and degradation performance for the target contaminant SIPX. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was mainly attributed to the effective construction of the BiOCl/TiO2 heterojunction and the excellent adsorption ability of the clinoptilolite in the BTC nanocomposites, as confirmed by characterization analysis and experimental results. Radical scavenger tests indicated that superoxide radical anions and photogenerated holes were the dominant active species in the reaction system, suggesting the potential of these novel nanocomposites as efficient photocatalysts for complete degradation of xanthates under visible light.
