Development and Adjustment of an Algorithm for Identifying Drug-Related Hospital Admissions in Pediatrics

Christopher Schulze et al.

Summary: This study developed an algorithm for identifying drug-related inpatient admissions in pediatrics with high sensitivity and improved specificity after modifications. The algorithm was able to identify a majority of ADEs leading to hospital admission, but further refinement with a larger population is recommended for better specificity and reduced trigger signals.

Reduction of outpatient antibiotic prescriptions for children and adolescents in Germany 2010-2019. Regional development in the German statutory health insurance regions

J. Holstiege et al.

Summary: In pediatric outpatient care, antibiotic stewardship (ABS) has gained increasing interest over the last 10 years. Recent analysis showed marked reductions of antibiotic prescription rates (APR) in children and adolescents, particularly in infants and toddlers. However, oral cephalosporins still account for a high proportion of prescriptions and there are striking regional differences that cannot be explained by patient population or the spectrum of diseases.
