The study of skin hydration, anti-wrinkles function improvement of anti-aging cream with alpha-ketoglutarate

Fan Yang et al.

Summary: Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG), as a key intermediate of the TCA cycle, plays a crucial role in various metabolic processes and serves as an antioxidant in the defense against reactive oxygen species. Fermentation is an efficient method to enhance AKG synthesis, with rice fermented liquid showing promising results in improving skin hydration, elasticity, and glossiness in clinical tests.

MyD88 deficiency ameliorates weight loss caused by intestinal oxidative injury in an autophagy-dependent mechanism

Ming Qi et al.

Summary: This study identified MyD88 as an important regulator in intestinal oxidative stress using an oxidative stress model induced by paraquat in IECs and mouse model. Intestinal deletion of MyD88 reduces oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and DNA damage, improves mitochondrial function, and enhances antioxidative enzymes activity. These findings suggest that reducing MyD88 level may be a potential therapeutic target for weight loss induced by intestinal oxidative injury.

Osteocytes in bone aging: Advances, challenges, and future perspectives

Jiarui Cui et al.

Summary: Osteocytes play a critical role in maintaining bone homeostasis and are involved in age-related bone deterioration. Studies have identified specific characteristics and molecular mechanisms of aging osteocytes, such as impaired mechanosensitivity and cellular senescence. RNA sequencing has provided insights into bone aging-related genes and signaling pathways in osteocytes.

Efficacy of Antiresorptive Treatment in Osteoporotic Older Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials

B. A. Cedeno-Veloz et al.

Summary: Antiresorptive drugs have a statistically significant effect on preventing hip fractures in older adults, but with moderate quality of evidence and a high number needed to treat. There is no reduction in the risk of hip fractures in individuals aged 75 years and older. More randomized controlled trials are needed in very old osteoporotic adults.

Metabolomics in Bone Research

Jingzhi Fan et al.

Summary: The use of metabolomics in bone research holds great potential for understanding bone cell behaviors, disease diagnosis, and treatment methods. This review summarizes metabolism changes during osteogenesis, osteoclastogenesis, and immunoregulation in hard tissue, as well as metabolite changes in relevant bone diseases. The findings of this review can serve as a basis for future metabolomics-driven bone research studies and development of bone disease treatment methods.
