CVD Nanocrystalline Diamond Film Doped with Eu

Elena B. Yudina et al.

Summary: This paper presents experimental results on the formation of Eu ions' luminescent centers in CVD diamond films. A new approach using diamond nanoparticles surface modified with Eu ions for seeding during CVD growth has been implemented. The growth of Eu-doped nanocrystalline diamond films (NCD) on silicon substrates through microwave plasma-assisted CVD at 2.45 GHz resulted in distinct photoluminescence spectra, confirming the incorporation of Eu ions into the NCD film.

Rare-earth metal catalysts for high-pressure synthesis of rare diamonds

Yuri N. Palyanov et al.

Summary: The study reports the synthesis of diamonds with rare properties using melts of rare-earth metals as catalysts, determining the conditions for diamond crystallization and optimal parameters for the synthesis of single crystal diamonds. The rare-earth metal catalysts not only result in nitrogen-free diamonds, but also enable the synthesis of diamonds doped with group IV elements, promising for emerging quantum technologies. This study demonstrates a new field of application for rare-earth metals.
