Spirulina platensis mediated biosynthesis of Cuo Nps and photocatalytic degradation of toxic azo dye Congo red and kinetic studies

Khawla Alsamhary et al.

Summary: This research aims to synthesize Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) using Cyanobacterium in a greener way. The NPs were synthesized using Spirulina platensis, and the method offers a less toxic, less cost, and environment friendly approach. The CuO NPs were capped and stabilized by the natural substances of S. platensis, as confirmed by GC-MS analysis. Various analytical techniques, such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and TEM, were employed to characterize the NPs and confirm their formation. The CuO NPs showed significant photocatalytic activity in degrading Congo red dye.

A novel Sm doped Cr2O3 sesquioxide-decorated MWCNTs heterostructured Fenton-like with sonophotocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation

Gh Eshaq et al.

Summary: A novel Sm doped Cr2O3 decorated MWCNTs nanocomposite photocatalyst was prepared and investigated for the degradation of metoprolol (MET). The photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite was enhanced by the incorporation of MWCNTs and the shift in absorbance towards visible light region due to Sm doping. The sonophotocatalytic system showed higher degradation rate due to synergistic effect.

A Bifunctional 2D Interlayered β-Cu2V2O7/Zn2V2O6 (CZVO) Heterojunction for Solar-Driven Nonsacrificial Dye Degradation and Water Oxidation

Muhammad Ashraf et al.

Summary: The research focuses on investigating novel materials with controlled morphology for solar-driven conversions, leading to the synthesis of a novel trimetallic CZVO hybrid with unique bifunctional, non-sacrificial photoresponse. The XPS analysis confirmed the Type-(I) heterojunction formation between CVO and ZVO in CZVO, contributing to the significant improvement in performance. Optimization of CZVO-opt demonstrated the highest photodegradation and photocurrent density, attributed to the firm contact and uniform distribution of ZVO NPs over CVO interlayered nanosheets with suppresses charge recombination.
