Effect of kinematics on the torque/force generation, surface characteristics, and shaping ability of a nickel-titanium rotary glide path instrument: An ex vivo study

Moe S. Kyaw et al.

Summary: Under laboratory conditions, the optimal glide path motion generated less clockwise torque and greater upward force compared to other rotation motions. The optimal glide path motion also resulted in fewer surface defects compared to continuous rotation. The three modes of reciprocal rotation better maintained the apical curvature of root canals than continuous rotation with the ProGlider instrument.

The Effect of Different Molar Access Cavity Designs on Root Canal Shaping Times Using Rotation and Reciprocation Instruments in Mandibular First Molars

Martin Vorster et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the glide path and final preparation times of WaveOne Gold and TruNatomy in conjunction with two different endodontic access cavity designs. The results showed that the preparation time with TruNatomy Glider and Prime instruments was significantly faster than WaveOne Gold Glider/WaveOne Gold Primary, regardless of the access cavity design. No significant difference was found between the different access cavity design groups in combination with TruNatomy Glider/TruNatomy Prime preparation.

Comparison of the canal transportation of ProTaper GOLD, WaveOne GOLD, and TruNatomy in simulated double-curved canals

HyeWon Kim et al.

Summary: TruNatomy demonstrated better shaping ability in simulated S-shaped canals compared to ProTaper GOLD and WaveOne GOLD, maintaining the original apical canal curvature more effectively. TruNatomy removed less resin than the other groups in all sections and had the shortest shaping time.

Ruba Mustafa et al.

Summary: This laboratory-based study compared the amount of apically extruded debris and preparation time of different rotary systems in severely curved root canals. The results showed that HyFlex Controlled Memory and HyFlex EDM groups extruded significantly more debris compared to other systems, while TruNatomy extruded the least. The preparation time did not show significant differences among the groups.

Analysis of Torque and Force Induced by Rotary Nickel-Titanium Instruments during Root Canal Preparation: A Systematic Review

Myint Thu et al.

Summary: In this review, 52 out of 4096 studies met the inclusion criteria, identifying 26 factors that influence torque or force generation during nickel-titanium rotary root canal instrumentation. Factors associated with higher torque or force generation were found to be supported by multiple studies with consistent results, while some factors were found to be interrelated, obscuring the independent effect of each factor and lacking sufficient scientific evidence supporting the influence of some factors.
