Demand forecast sharing for a dominant retailer with supplier encroachment and quality decisions

Shichen Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a dominant brick-and-mortar retailer's incentive to share demand forecast information with a supplier who has the encroachment capacity of online selling and makes quality decisions. The study finds that the supplier tends to encroach when the retailer shares information, while may choose not to encroach when the retailer does not share information in order to avoid costly signaling behavior. Additionally, the impact of the accuracy of demand forecast information and the direct selling cost of the supplier on the retailer's decision to share information is discussed.

Information disclosure and blockchain technology adoption strategy for competing platforms

Yao-Yu Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the optimal information disclosure and equilibrium blockchain adoption strategy for online platforms. The study finds that the equilibrium strategy depends on the cost threshold of blockchain adoption. If the cost is too high or too low, platforms will not adopt blockchain technology, resulting in a market filled with unverified information. In between, a mixed strategy exists.

Acquisition transparency and induced supplier encroachment

Xu Guan et al.

Summary: This study explores a retailer's incentive for information acquisition when facing the possibility of supplier encroachment. It finds that the retailer's acquisition behavior leaks information to the supplier, impacting the supplier's pricing and encroachment decisions. The retailer may give up acquisition when observable to prevent the supplier's actions, but undertakes it when unobservable to gain an information advantage.

Customer no-show reduction in web-based appointment service: investigations of non-attendance behaviors

Ye Hua et al.

Summary: Web-based appointment services can improve efficiency, but are often affected by customer non-attendance. Previous research overlooked the opportunistic nature of no-shows and the impact of cancellation policies. This study proposes a research model based on transaction cost theory and tests it in the context of web-based outpatient registration services. The results demonstrate that no-shows can be reduced by increasing asset specificity and decreasing uncertainty. Awareness of cancellation policies can lead to more cancellations but weaken the effects of asset specificity factors. Additionally, stricter cancellation policies can decrease no-shows.

Demand information sharing of fresh produce supply chain considering competing suppliers' freshness-keeping effort

Zhenjiang Chen et al.

Summary: This paper examines the demand information sharing strategy in a fresh produce supply chain. The results show that the suppliers are always willing to accept the information disclosed by the retailer, but complete transparency of demand information may hurt the supply chain. To improve the supply chain performance, the retailer needs to choose the appropriate information sharing strategy based on the freshness elasticity.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of key opinion leaders (KOLs) on launching new products in the supply chain and proposes some important strategies. Firstly, when KOLs have high market influence, companies should adopt interactive strategies with KOLs. Secondly, when users have low intention to purchase new products, firms need to interact with users more frequently to increase their demand. Finally, network externalities of online platforms and users' preferences for new products are the key factors that determine the supply chain strategies.
