Formation of topological domain walls and quantum transport properties of zero-line modes in commensurate bilayer graphene systems

Junjie Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, we theoretically investigate the construction and quantum transport properties of topological conducting domain walls between AB/BA stacking regions in bilayer graphene systems with tunable twisting angles. We find that the lattice reconstruction is more significant for smaller twisting angles, leading to sharper domain boundaries. Additionally, we observe robust behavior and a specific current partition law among conducting channels for topological zero-line modes localized at the domain walls.

Equipartition of current in metallic armchair nanoribbon of graphene-based device

Hui Yang et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigates the mesoscopic electronic transport properties of Bernal-stacked bilayer/trilayer graphene connected with four monolayer graphene terminals. In the case of bilayer graphene, the current from one incoming terminal can be equally partitioned into other three outgoing terminals near the charge-neutrality point, and the conductance periodically fluctuates. For trilayer graphene, when the Fermi energy is located around the charge-neutrality point, the system can exhibit fractional quantized conductance after exceeding a critical length.

Jacutingaite family: An efficient platform for coexistence of spin valley Hall effects, valley spin-valve realization, and layer spin crossover

Majeed Ur Rehman et al.

Summary: This study successfully realizes several valley-spin-based phenomena in the Jacutingaite family, such as coupled spin-valley Hall effect, valley spin-valve effect, and spin splitting, by exploiting inversion symmetry using different strategies. It also demonstrates the ability to control doping levels in the Pt2HgSe3 layer through interface coupling, providing a mechanism for achieving superconductivity. Swapping of induced spin splittings and Berry curvatures between the two valleys upon reversal of electric field is observed without destroying the Z(2) topological hallmarks.

This study demonstrates a significant enhancement of ferromagnetism and magnetic easy-axis switching in few-layered Cr2Ge2Te6 using SIC-FETs, with the easy axis of magnetization tunable by electric fields. Electric gating also increases the Curie temperature and enables further heterostructure engineering on the sample surface in the SIC-FET device configuration, offering potential for electrically controlled quantum phenomena in a single device.

Summary: This study demonstrates the realization and control of a fully valley-polarized quantum anomalous Hall effect in bilayer graphene by separately imprinting spin-orbit and magnetic proximity effects in different layers. The topological phase can be controlled by a gate voltage and switched between valleys by reversing the sign of the exchange interaction. Quantum transport calculations show the chirality and resilience of the valley-polarized edge state.

Van der Waals heterostructure Pt2HgSe3/CrI3 for topological valleytronicsc

Summary: A valley-polarized Chern insulator is identified in a van der Waals heterostructure, showing potential applications with interplay between multiple effects. The combination of interlayer magnetic coupling and strong intralayer spin-orbit coupling leads to the opening of a topological gap and high orbital magnetization. Valley polarization and Chern number are linked to the magnetic order of the nearest-neighbor layer, and topological phases are protected by the presence of h-BN in constructing superlattices.
