Broadband cross-circular polarization carpet cloaking based on a phase change material metasurface in the mid-infrared region

Bo Fang et al.

Summary: In this study, a cross-circularly polarized invisibility carpet cloaking device in the mid-infrared band is proposed. The unit cells with the cross-circular polarization gradient phase are designed and constructed, and a phase change material is introduced for tunable cloaking. The constructed metasurface cloaking device shows good cross-circular polarization cloaking property in a broadband wavelength range.

All-dielectric metasurface for fully resolving arbitrary beams on a higher-order Poincare sphere

Hui Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a compact all-silicon metasurface that can fully resolve arbitrary beams on a higher-order Poincare sphere (HOPS) via a single intensity measurement while detecting optical singularities and higher-order Stokes parameters simultaneously. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed metadevice, with the design strategy showing potential for extending to fully resolve arbitrary beams up to order 4 on HOPS. Because of its compact configuration and compatibility with current semiconductor technology, the metadevice holds promise for applications in information processing and optical communications.

Metasurface optics for on-demand polarization transformations along the optical path

Ahmed H. Dorrah et al.

Summary: By using metasurfaces to independently shape the polarization state of a light beam at each point in space along its propagation direction, longitudinally variable polarization optical components are demonstrated; a new class of polarizers and wave plates based on metasurfaces can impart an arbitrarily chosen polarization response along the propagation direction, regardless of the incident polarization; this approach allows for the desired propagation-dependent polarization response to be enacted without prior knowledge of the incident polarization, expanding the use of polarization in the design of multifunctional metasurfaces.
