Hierarchical zeolite for biomass conversion to biofuel: A review

St Mardiana et al.

Summary: The development of biofuel production from biomass is promising, with zeolites emerging as suitable materials for catalyzing biomass conversion. However, the diffusion limitation issues caused by the micropores in zeolites can be addressed by developing hierarchical porosity. Research on hierarchical zeolite catalysts is continuously growing to enhance their performance.

Overcoming phase separation in dual templating: A homogeneous hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite with flower-like morphology, synthesis and in-depth acidity study

Sanja Bosnar et al.

Summary: The dual templating approach attempted to synthesize hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite using CTAB, resulting in phase separation in most synthesis routes, but a specific combination led to the formation of a homogeneous hierarchical ZSM-5 with flower-like morphology, possessing significant microporous and highly developed mesoporous surface.

Hydrodeoxygenation of phenolics over uniformly dispersed Pt-Ni alloys supported by self-pillared ZSM-5 nanosheets

Longhui Guo et al.

Summary: In this work, a self-pillared nanosheet ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst loaded with Pt-Ni bimetals was prepared, which exhibited highly exposed surface areas and strong metal-support interaction. The Pt-Ni/SP catalyst showed enhanced hydrodeoxygenation efficiency through promoted adsorption and spillover reactions. Furthermore, the hierarchical structure of the catalyst also facilitated substrate adsorption.

Fe-Al isomorphous and self-pillared ZSM-5 nanosheet catalyst for cracking of n-heptane with enhanced selectivity of light olefins

Song Xia et al.

Summary: Fe-Al isomorphous and self-pillared ZSM-5 nanosheets zeolite (Al-Fe-SPZ) with different Fe/Al molar ratios were synthesized by one-pot strategy for catalytic cracking of n-heptane to produce light olefins. Adding Fe into zeolite framework reduced surface acid concentrations and affected the olefins selectivity in catalytic cracking reactions.

Summary: By adjusting the thickness of ZSM-5 zeolite nanosheets, catalytic activity can be significantly improved, especially in increasing the selectivity of light olefins. Thicker nanosheets with more micropores are conducive to improving the selectivity of products.
