Synergic effect between gold and vanadate substituted hydroxyapatite support for synthesis of methyl methacrylate by one-step oxidative esterification

Jie Li et al.

Summary: By modulating the phase structure of the catalyst support, a synergic effect between gold and vanadate substituted hydroxyapatite (HVP) was discovered for the synthesis of methyl methacrylate (MMA). The Au/HVP catalyst showed the best performance and unprecedented stability among all evaluated catalyst/support systems.

Role of oxygen defects in basicity of Se doped ZnO nanocatalyst for enhanced triglyceride transesterification in biodiesel production

A. V. R. Krishna Rao et al.

Summary: Se doped ZnO nanorods were found to be an efficient heterogeneous base catalyst for transesterification of vegetable oil, with surface area defects in the crystal lattice playing a key role in enhancing reactivity. The optimal reaction conditions led to a maximum FAME yield of 94.7% in 3 hours, and the nanocatalyst showed recyclability and potential for industrial scale biodiesel production.

Crystal-plane effects of anatase TiO2 on the selective hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde over Ir/TiO2 catalysts

Aiping Jia et al.

Summary: Supported Ir/TiO2 catalysts with anatase TiO2 nanocrystals exposing {101}, {100} and {001} planes were tested for selective hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde. The Ir/TiO2-{101} catalyst showed improved performance compared to the Ir/TiO2-{001} due to a higher concentration of oxygen vacancies, which served as adsorption sites for C=O bond. Deactivation of the catalyst was mainly caused by strong adsorption of crotonaldehyde and/or products, as well as CO poisoning via decarbonylation.

Producing of cinnamyl alcohol from cinnamaldehyde over supported gold nanocatalyst

Yuan Tan et al.

Summary: The chemoselective hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehyde to unsaturated alcohol has attracted more attentions recently. By using ZnAl-hydrotalcite-supported cysteine-capped Au-25 nanoclusters, the conversion of cinnamaldehyde to cinnamyl alcohol with high selectivity and full substrate conversion was achieved.
