They just say how stupid I was for being conned. Cyberscams and acquired brain injury: A qualitative exploration of the lived experience of survivors and close others

Kate R. Gould et al.

Summary: Individuals with acquired brain injury may be more vulnerable to cyberscams due to their impairments. However, there is a lack of understanding and effective intervention for survivors and their close others. This qualitative study explored their perspectives and identified themes related to the scam experience, impacts, vulnerabilities, and interventions. The findings highlight the complexity of the scam victimization process, the financial and emotional impacts, and the need for increased education and awareness to improve online safety for those with acquired brain injury.

'It gives you encouragement because you're not alone': A pilot study of a multi-component social media skills intervention for people with acquired brain injury

Melissa Brunner et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the outcomes of completing a social media skills intervention for people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and identify barriers and facilitators for future implementation. The results showed that participating in the intervention significantly improved confidence and enjoyment in using Facebook for the participants with ABI. However, there was no significant change in reported quality of life. Participants provided valuable feedback on the intervention. The study suggests embedding active peer moderators within groups and taking an individualized approach to intervention delivery.

Summary: The study explored the experiences of people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and rehabilitation professionals in using social media post-TBI.
