Characterization and immunomodulatory effect of an alkali-extracted galactomannan from Morchella esculenta

Nan-Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel polysaccharide, FMP-2, was isolated and purified from the fruiting bodies of Morchella esculenta using alkali-assisted extraction. FMP-2 exhibited immunomodulatory effects, stimulating phagocytosis and the secretion of cytokines. It also showed a repairing effect on immune injury. These findings suggest that FMP-2 has potential applications as an immunomodulator in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Mechanisms of RAW264.7 macrophages immunomodulation mediated by polysaccharide from mung bean skin based on RNA-seq analysis

Li Qin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the immunomodulation properties of mung bean skin polysaccharide (MBP) on macrophages and uncovered its possible molecular mechanisms. The results showed that MBP enhances macrophage activity and stimulates the production of reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide, and cytokines. Transcriptomic analysis identified differentially expressed genes and KEGG analysis revealed the involvement of Toll-like receptor 4, mitogen-activated protein kinases, and nuclear factor-kappa B signaling pathways. Western blot analysis confirmed the activation of these pathways and their essential role in MBP-mediated macrophage activation. The study suggests that MBP can regulate macrophage immune response through TLR4-mediated MAPKs and NF-kappa B signaling pathways, making it a potential natural immunomodulator for functional foods.

Volume Retention After Facial Fat Grafting and Relevant Factors: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Qianwen Lv et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the volume retention rate of facial autologous fat grafting and found that the average retention rate was 47%, varying from 26% to 83%. Factors such as volume measurement method and patient characteristics significantly influenced the reported retention rate. Secondary fat grafting procedures and patients with congenital deformities showed trends towards better retention rates.

Long-Term Effects of Platelet-Rich Fibrin on Fat Graft Survival and Their Optimal Mixing Ratio

Panxi Yu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the long-term effects of PRF on grafted fat and their optimal mixing ratio. The findings suggest that PRF can promote fat graft survival by facilitating vascularization, regulating collagen production, and inhibiting apoptosis. A mixing ratio of PRF to fat of 1:10 was found to achieve the best promoting effect for clinical application.

The Role of Natural Killer Cells in Autoimmune Diseases

Umut Can Kucuksezer et al.

Summary: NK cells are a subset of innate lymphoid cells that play important roles in anti-tumor immune responses and immune regulation, with different subgroups showing cytotoxic functions or cytokine production. Their activation is influenced by a variety of factors, including cell surface receptors and cytokines, and their dysregulation can contribute to various immune-mediated diseases. Further research on NK cell biology and their potential therapeutic applications is necessary for better understanding and treatment of inflammatory disorders.

Necroptosis in Macrophage Foam Cells Promotes Fat Graft Fibrosis in Mice

Xihang Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that macrophage necroptosis plays a critical role in fat graft fibrosis after transplantation, with the necroptotic macrophages activating collagen synthesis in fibroblasts through a paracrine mechanism. Inhibition of necroptosis in macrophages could potentially prevent fibrosis in fat grafts.
