?????????????????????One-pot solvothermal synthesis of flower-like Fe-doped In2S3/Fe3S4 S- scheme hetero-microspheres with enhanced interfacial electric field and boosted visible-light-driven CO2 reduction

Tongfei Xu et al.

Summary: In this work, Fe-doped flower-like In2S3/Fe3S4 hetero-microspheres (Fe-In2S3/Fe3S4 HMSs) were prepared through a facile one-pot solvothermal reaction and demonstrated as efficient S-scheme photocatalysts for visible-light-driven CO2 photoreduction. The doping of Fe reduced the bandgap of In2S3, extended the optical response to the visible-light region, increased the densities of donors and sulfur vacancies, and elevated the Fermi level. The enhanced interfacial electric field resulted in promoted carrier transfer in the S-scheme pathway. Fe-doped In2S3 also reduced the formation energy of the *CO intermediate, which favored the CO evolution at the surface.

Hydrophobization Engineering of the Air-Cathode Catalyst for Improved Oxygen Diffusion towards Efficient Zinc-Air Batteries

Kun Tang et al.

Summary: Poor oxygen diffusion at multiphase interfaces in the air cathode suppresses the energy densities of zinc-air batteries. To solve this problem, a hydrophobic surface was created by coating a polytetrafluoroethylene layer on the surfaces of Co3O4 nanosheets grown on carbon cloth, promoting the formation of more three-phase reaction interfaces and improved oxygen diffusion. The resulting hydrophobic-Co3O4 nanosheets/carbon cloth electrode exhibited higher limiting current density and power density than the untreated-Co3O4 nanosheets/carbon cloth electrode.

Two-step nitrogen and sulfur doping in porous carbon dodecahedra for Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors with long term stability

Ying Yang et al.

Summary: Aqueous Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors (ZHSCs) have the potential to be highly efficient energy storage devices due to their high theoretical capacity, low cost, and intrinsic safety. However, the lack of efficient cathode materials for reversible insertion/extraction of Zn2+ ions has posed a significant challenge to achieving high cycling-stability ZHSCs. In this study, researchers developed a facile two-step doping strategy to synthesize N, S-codoped porous carbon dodecahedra (N, S-PCD) as a high-performance cathode material for ultralong-life aqueous ZHSC. The N, S-PCD cathode demonstrated a specific capacity of 133.4 mA h-1 (300.2 F g-1) at 0.2 A g(-1) and a maximum energy density of 106.7 W h kg(-1) at a power density of 160 W kg-1. Furthermore, the ZHSC showed an ultra-long cycle life, retaining 97.1% capacity after 100,000 charge-discharge cycles (approximately 3960 hours), which is the longest lifespan reported for ZHSCs to date. Mechanism studies revealed that the dual-doping of N and S enhanced the chemical adsorption of Zn2+ ions and improved electronic conductivity, synergistically enhancing the Zn-ion storage performance.
