Defect enhanced CoMnNiOx catalysts derived from spent ternary lithium-ion batteries for low-temperature propane oxidation

Ganggang Li et al.

Summary: A feasible strategy was reported to develop efficient CoMnNiOx catalysts for propane oxidation using waste ternary lithium-ion batteries (TLIBs) as precursors. The defect enhanced-CoMnNiOx catalyst showed a low activation temperature for propane oxidation, which was achieved by increasing oxygen vacancy defects. Additionally, the defect enhancement improved the reducibility, acidity, and lattice oxygen mobility of the catalyst, thereby enhancing the catalytic activity. This study is of great significance for the development of green and efficient catalysts for VOCs oxidation.

Dual Activation of Molecular Oxygen and Surface Lattice Oxygen in Single Atom Cu1/TiO2 Catalyst for CO Oxidation

Yarong Fang et al.

Summary: The mechanism of simultaneous activation of O-2 and surface lattice O2- on one active metallic site is still unclear. In this study, we designed Cu-1/TiO2 single atom catalysts (SACs) with abundant oxygen activation sites. Charge transfer between Cu and TiO2 generates Cu-I and 2-coordinated O-lat sites, facilitating the chemisorption and activation of O-2 molecules. The Cu-1-O-Ti active site also induces TiO2 lattice distortion, activating adjacent surface lattice O2-, achieving the dual activation of O-2 and surface lattice O2-. Modulating the electron properties of SACs can boost heterogeneous catalytic oxidation activity.

Efficient propane low-temperature destruction by Co3O4 crystal facets engineering: Unveiling the decisive role of lattice and oxygen defects and surface acid-base pairs

Yanfei Jian et al.

Summary: The low-temperature degradation of short chain alkanes is a major challenge in purifying volatile organic compounds. Co3O4 nanomaterials with different crystal facets were fabricated, and rod-like structures showed the highest activity due to their unique properties. The rod-like structure of Co3O4 has the lowest formation energy of oxygen vacancies on the (110) facet, making it an efficient catalyst for propane oxidation.

A comprehensive review on anthropogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission estimates in China: Comparison and outlook

Bowei Li et al.

Summary: Accurate measurement and estimation of VOCs emissions in China are crucial for effective pollution control measures. This study reviewed two estimation methods and found that emissions have been increasing since 1949. Industrial and solvent use contributions to VOCs emissions are increasing, while transportation sector contributions are decreasing since 2000. Spatially, hotspots of emissions are concentrated in eastern China.
