Regulation of the Sulfur Environment in Clusters to Construct a Mn-Sn2S6 Framework for Mercury Bonding

Summary: The unique spatial configuration and unsaturated-coordination nature of metal-sulfur clusters contribute to their remarkable chemical activity. In this study, we successfully constructed a Mn-Sn2S6 framework by manipulating the sulfur environment, which exhibited superior performance in removing gaseous elemental mercury and high resistance against SO2. The study provides important insights for environmental pollution control and cluster-based material design.

Prussian Blue Analogues of A2[Fe(CN)6] (A: Cu2+, Co2+, and Ni2+) and Their Composition-Dependent Sorption Performances towards Cs+, Sr2+, and Co2+

Summary: The study successfully prepared Prussian blue analogues with different substituted cations for the removal of radioactive contaminants from aqueous solutions. It was found that certain PBAs exhibited higher sorption capacity towards Cs+, Sr2+, and Co2+ due to the cation-exchange ability of substituted metals within the framework. Additionally, Cs+ was effectively adsorbed by PBAs because of the size matching between Cs+ ions and the channel windows of PBAs.

Efficient removal of Sr2+ and Cs+ from aqueous solutions using a sulfonic acid-functionalized Zr-based metal-organic framework

Summary: A stable and highly efficient adsorbent, UiO-66-NH-SO3H-3, was successfully fabricated using a facile and scalable tactic, showing significant removal capacities for Sr2+ and Cs+. Due to the -SO3H functional groups, this adsorbent can selectively remove Sr2+ and Cs+ even in the presence of different coexisting ions, suggesting potential applications in water treatment.
