Epigenetic and Posttranscriptional Modulation of SOS1 Can Promote Breast Cancer Metastasis through Obesity-Activated c-Met Signaling in African-American Women

Fei Xing et al.

Summary: The study reveals that higher expression of SOS1 in African-American breast cancer patients is associated with activation of the c-Met pathway, increased cancer stemness, and macrophage polarization. SOS1 expression is epigenetically and posttranscriptionally regulated in these patients, and a natural compound, taxifolin, shows potential as a therapeutic agent by blocking SOS1 signaling.

Metastasis-on-a-chip reveals adipocyte-derived lipids trigger cancer cell migration via HIF-1α activation in cancer cells

Jieun Seo et al.

Summary: This study established a 3D culture system to investigate the interactions between adipocyte derived stem cells and cancer cells, revealing the role of the lipid/HIF-1 alpha axis in promoting tumor metastasis. The findings provide new mechanistic insights into the effects of ADSC-released fatty acids on cancer cells as oncometabolites.

Exosomal miR-10b-5p mediates cell communication of gastric cancer cells and fibroblasts and facilitates cell proliferation

Ting Yan et al.

Summary: MiR-10b-5p is highly expressed in advanced stage gastric cancer patients, targeting PTEN in GC cells and KLFII in fibroblasts, regulating the PI3K/Akt/mTORC1 signaling pathway. Exosomal miR-10b-5p promotes proliferation of GC cells, while miR-10b-5p inhibitor reduces cell growth and viability.
