Crystal structure of the Ilheus virus helicase: implications for enzyme function and drug design

De-Ping Wang et al.

Summary: The crystal structure of ILHV helicase was determined, revealing conserved binding sites for NTP and RNA-ILHV helicase among intra-genus flaviviruses. ILHV helicase showed relatively lower enzymatic activity compared to other flavivirus helicases. Mutagenesis experiments identified key amino acids for ATPase activity. Additionally, small molecule inhibitors of DENV helicase were found to potentially inhibit ILHV helicase activity.

N130, N175 and N207 are N-linked glycosylation sites of duck Tembusu virus NS1 that are important for viral multiplication, viremia and virulence in ducklings

Senzhao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified three potential glycosylation sites on the NS1 protein of Duck Tembusu virus and demonstrated their importance in viral replication, viremia, and virulence. Mutations at these sites affected the molecular weight of NS1 but did not impact subcellular localization, with deglycosylation resulting in decreased viral titers and virulence.

Prevalence of arbovirus antibodies in young healthy adult population in Brazil

Barbara Batista Salgado et al.

Summary: This study measured the seroprevalence of endemic and emerging viral pathogens in military personnel stationed in Manaus, Amazonas state. Results showed that approximately 60% of individuals in the high-risk population lacked antibodies against major endemic and emerging viruses, making them susceptible to further infections. Military personnel in the Amazon region could play a key role in strengthening global infectious disease surveillance, particularly in remote areas.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
