Endemism, invasion, and overseas dispersal: the phylogeographic history of the Lesser Antillean frog, Eleutherodactylus johnstonei

Michael L. Yuan et al.

Summary: Cryptogenic species, whose native and introduced ranges are unknown, pose challenges for conservation management and ecological studies. This study used genetic and phylogeographic tools to determine the origin and primary source of introduced populations of Eleutherodactylus johnstonei. The results highlight the utility of genetic tools for resolving cryptogenic species problems and provide insights into the invasive potential of sister lineages.
