The feasibility of domestic raintanks contributing to community-oriented urban flood resilience

Christine Sefton et al.

Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of implementing a domestic raintank programme for increasing urban flood resilience. Hydrological modelling and socio-cultural interviews reveal the advantages and challenges of raintank models, as well as the potential for a community-oriented approach to flood resilience that promotes mutual learning and two-way communication.

Assessing flood resilience of urban drainage system based on a ?do-nothing? benchmark

Mingming Wang et al.

Summary: A methodology for assessing urban drainage system flood resilience based on a "do-nothing" benchmark was proposed and demonstrated in a case study in Chizhou city, China. The method can compute mean flood duration and system resilience, help identify effective intervention schemes, and provide a new way to test different interventions to improve system resilience.

Enhancing urban flood resilience: A holistic framework incorporating historic worst flood to Yangtze River Delta, China

Shiyao Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a holistic evaluation framework for urban flood resilience using VIKOR and Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) method. The framework consists of indicators for resistance, coping, recovery, and adaptation capacity for three stages of the flood disaster cycle. The analysis of 27 cities in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) reveals varying levels of urban flood resilience, with Nanjing standing out as the most resilient city. Recommendations are provided for further flood mitigation and resilience improvement.
