Janus PtSSe monolayer: A novel strain-modulated buddy for SOF2 sensing

Hao Cui et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorbing and sensing behaviors of 2D Janus PtSSe monolayer on SOF2, and finds that its S-surface shows the best performance in SOF2 adsorption and enhanced electrical conductivity. Applied biaxial strains facilitate the decline of bandgap in the SOF2 system, indicating the strong potential of PtSSe monolayer as a strain-modulated sensor for SOF2 detection.

Hydrogen storage properties of Pr-Mg-Ni- based alloys prepared by vacuum induction melting

Wengang Bu et al.

Summary: Pr5Mg95-xNix (x = 5, 10, 15) alloys were investigated for their phase composition, microstructure, and hydrogen storage properties. XRD, SEM, and TEM were used for analysis. The results showed that increasing Ni content improved activation ability and hydrogen uptake capacity. Hydrogenation led to cracks and fractures, reducing grain size. PCT test revealed two plateaus caused by reversible processes of Mg reversible arrow MgH2 and Mg2NiH4 reversible arrow Mg2NiH4. Ni content significantly affected hysteresis effect during hydrogen cycling. PrH2.93 exhibited poor thermal stability.

Effect of Pt doping on sensing performance of g-C3N4 for detecting hydrogen gas: A DFT study

Sifan Luo et al.

Summary: In this work, the properties and mechanisms of platinum-doped graphitic C3N4 in the adsorption of hydrogen were investigated using density functional theory. The results show that Pt-doped g-C3N4 has obvious selective sensitivity towards hydrogen gas, and the competing reactions of oxygen gas have a significant impact on the adsorption of hydrogen, while other impurities have limited influence on hydrogen adsorption.

Anionic assisted incorporation of WO3 nanoparticles for enhanced electrochemical properties of AZ31 Mg alloy coated via plasma electrolytic oxidation

Tehseen Zehra et al.

Summary: The present work investigated the impact of different anions on the incorporation of WO3 nanoparticles into the MgO layer during the plasma electrolytic oxidation of AZ31 Mg alloy. The type of anion added into the electrolyte influenced the microstructural features, coating thickness, and corrosion resistance of the samples. The coating produced in the presence of silicate anions exhibited the best corrosion resistance.

Microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of binary Mg-xBi (x = 2, 5, and 8 wt%) alloys

Hui Yu et al.

Summary: The microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-xBi alloys were investigated, showing changes with increasing Bi content. The alloys exhibit fully dynamic recrystallization, decreased grain size, and increased nano-scale Mg3Bi2 precipitates with higher Bi content. Additionally, Bi addition improves the strength and ductility of the alloys, with tensile elongation showing a trend based on Bi content.

Hydrogen absorption properties of Ce23Mg4Ni7 alloy at medium vacuum

Zhuocheng Liu et al.

Summary: Ce-Mg-Ni alloys exhibit high affinity for hydrogen and serve as typical compounds that can form hydrides. The Ce23Mg4Ni7 ternary alloy mainly consists of Ce23Mg4Ni7 phase and Ce23Mg4Ni7Hx hydride, with a saturated hydrogen absorption capacity of 55.72 mL. The Langmuir absorption equation was used to fit the hydrogen absorption results, showing an absorption coefficient of 0.0078 at 50°C.
