Influence of Al2O3/IZO double-layer antireflective coating on the front side of rear emitter silicon heterojunction solar cell

Somin Park et al.

Summary: This study investigates the optical and electrical properties of indium zinc oxide (IZO) films compared to indium tin oxide (ITO) films, and introduces a double layer antireflection coating (DLARC) structure using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) system. The DLARC, consisting of IZO and Al2O3, significantly improves the performance of silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells.

Wide-angle broadband antireflection coatings based on boomerang-like alumina nanostructures in visible region

MirKazem Omrani et al.

Summary: A novel boomerang-like alumina based antireflective coating with ultra-low reflectance has been developed. The coating is fabricated by dip-coating and hot water treatment on glass substrates, resulting in boomerang-like alumina nanostructures. The optimized coating shows low reflectance in the visible spectral region for various incidence angles. The presented process is a simple and cost-effective route towards broadband and omnidirectional antireflection coatings.

Optical Constant and Conformality Analysis of SiO2 Thin Films Deposited on Linear Array Microstructure Substrate by PECVD

Yongqiang Pan et al.

Summary: SiO2 thin films were successfully deposited using PECVD technique, and characterized by XPS and VASE. The study found that the conformality of SiO2 thin films is influenced by deposition rate, film thickness, and step height.

Structural and gas barrier properties of hydrogenated silicon nitride thin films prepared by roll-to-roll microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition

Seong-Keun Cho et al.

Summary: Hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride films were analyzed for their chemical composition and physical properties prepared using MW-PECVD process. Factors affecting gas permeability, such as Si-H bond densities, were identified. Optimal conditions resulted in low WVTR and excellent mechanical stability and moisture barrier properties.

Effect of nitrogen flow on the properties of carbon nitride films deposited by electron cyclotron resonance plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition

Sixu Lin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of N2/C2H2 gas flow ratio on the composition, bond structure, scratch resistance, and optical properties of a-CNx:H films, revealing that an increase in the N2/C2H2 gas ratio leads to higher N/C atomic ratio, carbon and nitrogen bond structure ratios, and optical bandgap of the films. The results suggest that a-CNx:H films can serve as optical and protective coatings.

The same chemical state of carbon gives rise to two peaks in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

G. Greczynski et al.

Summary: Chemical state analysis in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) relies on assigning well-defined binding energy values to core level electrons originating from atoms in particular bonding configurations. Here, direct evidence is presented for the violation of this paradigm, as the C 1s peak due to C-C/C-H bonded atoms from adventitious carbon (AdC) layers splits into two distinctly different contributions. This finding exposes fundamental problems with the reliability of reported XPS data and suggests discontinuing the use of adventitious carbon in XPS.
