Research on the reciprocating load characteristics of a hydrodynamic bearing surface with sloped grooves

Huanyu Du et al.

Summary: This study designs and investigates a hydrodynamic bearing surface with sloped grooves, and experimental results show that the design provides additional load-carrying capacity while maintaining the film thickness within an appropriate range. The theoretical simulations are in good agreement with the experimental results, indicating the effectiveness of the designed bearing surface.

Numerical simulation of lubrication performance on chevron textured surface under hydrodynamic lubrication

Zihan Shen et al.

Summary: Numerical simulations were used to study the lubrication performance of chevron textured surfaces under hydrodynamic lubrication. It was found that the V-shape arrangement of chevron textures greatly improved lubrication performance, providing an effective way to enhance the load carrying capacity and reduce friction coefficient on such surfaces.

Shape optimization of hydrodynamic textured surfaces for enhancing load-carrying capacity based on level set method

Tu Zhirong et al.

Summary: The level set method and shape sensitivity analysis were utilized to optimize surface texture shapes under cavitating hydrodynamic lubrication conditions, with the application of velocity regularization and re-initial equations to ensure a smooth evolution process. The optimal surface texture shapes were found to be chevron-type in both the textured surface and parallel thrust bearing cases.
