Development of a Selective Electrochemical Biosensor for Bisphenol a Based on Target-Induced Chain Release Involving Methylene Blue Release

Summary: A selective and sensitive electrochemical biosensor is developed for detecting bisphenol A (BPA) by target-induced chain release. The biosensor utilizes a premodified gold electrode to immobilize capture DNA, and the binding of BPA to the aptamer leads to the release of the DNA chain, resulting in a reduction of the current signal.

Summary: Contamination of environmental sources and human exposure caused by endocrine disrupting compounds is a challenging issue. Bisphenols (BPs) are widely used in plastic production and can migrate from products to different media, leading to chronic exposure. The development of sensitive and cost-effective sensors for the determination of BPs is crucial. Electrochemical sensors provide a solution, and can be enhanced with nanomaterials or molecularly imprinted polymers. This review summarizes recent applications of electrochemical sensors for the determination of BPs.

Spectroscopic ellipsometry methods for brevetoxin detection

Summary: Spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) and attenuated internal reflection spectroscopic ellipsometry (TIRE) are promising methods in label-free biosensing applications. The sensors developed in this study have competitive detection ranges and limits, but show poor selectivity against analogs of BTX. The new derived aptamer has lower selectivity than its predecessors. Both SE and TIRE configurations successfully detect BTX spiked into real fish and shrimp samples.

Summary: A sensitive and selective sensor based on aptamer and spectroscopic ellipsometry was developed for early diagnosis of breast cancer. The sensor achieved a detection range of VEGF165 from 1 pM to 1000 pM in buffer, with detection limits of 5.81 pM and 4.29 pM, respectively.
