Atomization of As and Se volatile species in a dielectric barrier discharge atomizer after hydride generation: Fate of analyte studied by selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry

Jan Kratzer et al.

Summary: This study investigated the atomization of hydrides and their methylated analogues in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma atomizer using Selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) as a detector, revealing that the atomization efficiency of SeH2 is below 80%. The research also showed that in the absence of hydrogen fraction in the carrier gas, arsenic hydride is not atomized but decomposed in the DBD atomizer.

Ionization of semi-fluorinated n-alkanes in controlled atmosphere using flexible micro-tube plasma (FμTP) ionization source with square- and sine-wave voltage

Caiyan Tian et al.

Summary: This study investigated the ionization mechanism of SFAs by controlling the atmosphere and using square and sine-wave voltage to generate plasma. It revealed the differences in ionization effects on SFAs of plasma generated by different voltage waveforms, providing more understanding of plasma-based soft ionization. Additionally, optical spectroscopy was used to analyze the plasma development in one discharge cycle under different voltage waveforms.

Review: Miniature dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in analytical atomic spectrometry

Guanghui Niu et al.

Summary: The development of miniature, sensitive, high throughput, and in-situ analytical instruments using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) has become a hot topic in modern analytical chemistry. DBD offers advantages such as easy operation, simple configuration, ambient working temperature and pressure, low power consumption, and miniature dimension. Its applications in analytical atomic spectrometry include serving as excitation or atomization sources in AES, AAS, and AFS, as well as functioning as a vapor generation system.
