Effect of SnO-P2O5-MgO glass addition on the ionic conductivity of Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 solid electrolyte

Jingrui Kang et al.

Summary: NASICON-type structured compounds Li1+xMxTi2-x(PO4)(3) have attracted attention for their stability and high lithium ion conductivity. This study successfully synthesized LATP solid electrolyte with SnO-P2O5-MgO glass addition to improve density and ionic conductivity. Different concentrations of SPM glass addition altered Al/Ti-O and P-O bond distances, affecting the relative density and bulk conductivity of LATP samples.

Effect of Nb5+ doping on the microstructure and conductivity of Li1.125Ta0.875Zr0.125SiO5 electrolyte

Yanzhi Zhang et al.

Summary: The microstructure and electrochemical properties of Li1.125Ta0.875-xNbxZr0.125SiO5 ceramics prepared via the solid-phase reaction method were investigated. The conductivity of the ceramics increased and then decreased as the Nb doping concentration increased. Nb doping at 0.1875 mol facilitated the fusion and connection between grains, reducing the number of grain boundaries and increasing the conductivity. The structural distortion caused by the discrepancy in ionic radii of Ta5+ and Nb5+ allowed for more accommodation of Li ions and promoted Li+ diffusion, reducing the energy potential barrier for ion transport. The Li1.125Ta0.6875Nb0.1875Zr0.125SiO5 ceramic exhibited the highest conductivity, making it a potential candidate for all-solid-state batteries.

The effect of a Ta, Sr co-doping strategy on physical and electrochemical properties of Li7La3Zr2O12 electrolytes

Tianxiang Ning et al.

Summary: In this study, Ta single-doped and Ta, Sr co-doped LLZO electrolytes were synthesized via a two-step process. The samples showed excellent properties when the Sr doping amount reached 0.2 mol. Among all designed samples, Ta0.6Sr0.2 exhibited the highest Li+ conductivity and relative density, as well as the lowest activation energy. Moreover, the symmetric cell demonstrated excellent cycling performance with extremely low overpotentials, making it a promising candidate for next-generation all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries.

Functional carbon materials for high-performance Zn metal anodes

Caiwang Mao et al.

Summary: The realization of carbon peak and carbon neutralization depends on the efficient utilization of renewable energy sources. Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have received extensive attention due to their material abundance, high capacity, safety, and environmental friendliness. However, the irreversible issues of Zn anode significantly hinder the commercialization of high-performance AZIBs. Carbon materials provide solutions for improving the comprehensive performance of Zn anodes. This review presents the fundamentals, issues, and research progress of Zn anodes with functional carbon materials. Various strategies, including using carbon materials as substrates, protective coating layers, and electrolyte additives, are discussed. The remaining challenges and future perspectives of carbon materials in high-performance AZIBs are outlined.

Influence of LiBF4 sintering aid on the microstructure and conductivity of LATP solid electrolyte

Lijing Dai et al.

Summary: The addition of LiBF4 as a sintering aid can promote grain growth and improve ionic conductivity of LATP. The formation of solid solution phase between LiBF4 and LATP leads to the gradual disappearance of grain boundaries.
