Ultrasonic-promoted growth of staggered heterostructured tin(II) oxide nanoparticles on bulk carbon nitride nanolayer: Activated in solar spectrum with enhanced photocatalytic treatment of dyes effluents

Parisa Sadeghpour et al.

Summary: This study introduces the ultrasonic-promoted growth of staggered heterostructured nanoparticle-on-nanolayer tin(II) oxide-bulk carbon nanophotocatalysts. The photocatalytic performance of various ratios of SnO2-bulk g-C3N4 nanophotocatalysts was investigated, and the structural properties of the samples were analyzed using multiple characterization techniques. It was found that the tin oxide content in the nanocomposite framework significantly affected the structural properties of the photocatalysts and the separation efficiency of electrons and holes. The suggested reaction mechanism for dye degradation was also discussed in detail.

Chung-En Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, MIL-88A metal-organic frameworks with excellent physicochemical properties were synthesized using mixed organic ligands. The effects of different iron precursors on the properties of MIL-88A were investigated. It was found that the difference in metal ion dissociation rates influenced the crystallization rate of MIL-88A, leading to improved adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activity. The findings suggest that MIL-88A can be widely applied in photocatalysis research.

Cadmium-Sulfide Doped Carbon Nanoflakes Used for Sunlight- Assisted Selective Photodegradation of Indigo Carmine

Anjali Kumari Garg et al.

Summary: In this study, CdS-doped glucose-derived carbon nanoflakes (CdS-CNF) were fabricated using a simple two-step method. The CdS-CNF exhibited selective photocatalytic activity for the degradation of an organic dye, Indigo Carmine (IC), under sunlight. The photodegradation rate under sunlight was found to be approximately 8 times faster than under artificial bulb light. The involvement of superoxide radicals in the photocatalytic degradation mechanism was confirmed. Furthermore, CdS-CNF was shown to have potential as a photocatalyst for real-life applications by degrading IC dye in industrially spiked wastewater samples.

Muhammad Tayyab et al.

Summary: In this study, CdS nanowires were combined with vanadium carbide using a specific method, and it was found that the photocatalytic activity of the CdS nanowires was significantly enhanced when loaded with vanadium carbide, especially for simultaneous production of H2 and selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol into benzaldehyde. Additionally, the vanadium carbide loading also reduced the recombination rate of hydrogen and benzaldehyde. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of this method in achieving commercialization of photocatalytic hydrogen production.
