Colloidal Synthesis and Tunable Multicolor Emission of Vacancy-Ordered Cs2HfCl6 Perovskite Nanocrystals

Siping Liu et al.

Summary: This study presents the colloidal synthesis of lead-free vacancy-ordered Cs2HfCl6 perovskite NCs using hafnium acetylacetonate as metal precursors and proposes a passivation strategy for sub-bandgap trap states by doping Sb3+ ions. Additionally, the introduction of lanthanide ions enables tunable multicolor emissions in Cs2HfCl6 NCs, providing effective strategies for tuning the optical properties of lead-free vacancy-ordered perovskite NCs.

Improved One- and Multiple-Photon Excited Photoluminescence from Cd2+-Doped CsPbBr3 Perovskite NCs

Ivan D. Skurlov et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have exceptional optical properties and are considered promising for nonlinear optical applications. B-site doping is a promising strategy to enhance their brightness and stability. However, there is a lack of study on the influence of B-site doping on the nonlinear optical properties of inorganic perovskite NCs. In this study, Cd2+ doping improved both the linear and nonlinear optical properties of CsPbBr3 NCs, with a two-photon absorption cross-section among the highest reported for CsPbBr3 NCs.

Stability and efficiency issues, solutions and advancements in perovskite solar cells: A review

Ritika Sharma et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown great potential as an alternative renewable energy resource with competitive power conversion efficiency. However, PSCs still face stability issues and have a shorter lifetime compared to traditional silicon solar cells. This review focuses on the evolution of PSCs in terms of device architecture, electron transport, hole transport, and perovskite absorber layers to improve their PCE and stability. It also discusses the chemical nature, properties, commercialization status, and future outlook of PSCs.

Partial Substitution of Pb2+ in CsPbI3 as an Efficient Strategy To Design Fairly Stable All-Inorganic Perovskite Formulations

Marina Ustinova et al.

Summary: All-inorganic lead halide perovskites like CsPbI3 show higher stability in perovskite solar cells compared to hybrid analogues, but CsPbI3 absorbers undergo rapid phase transition at low temperatures. By substituting Pb2+ with specific cations, the stability of CsPbI3 films under realistic solar cell operation conditions was significantly enhanced, leading to improved efficiency in preliminary experiments.

Lead-Less Halide Perovskite Solar Cells

Liam Gollino et al.

Summary: The rise and commercialization of perovskite solar cells are hindered by the toxicity of lead present in the perovskites as the solar light absorber. To counter this problem, lead can be fully (lead-free) or partially (lead-less) replaced by diverse elements, with partial replacement showing more promising results. Various methods to reduce the lead content in PSCs are discussed, including the partial replacement of lead by elements like Sn, Ge, Sr, and other transition metals. In addition, new families of perovskites based on the insertion of organic cations to replace lead and halogen units are presented, as well as atypical ways to reduce toxicity such as optimizing photon collection and using recycled lead.

Hole transporting layer optimization for an efficient lead-free double perovskite solar cell by numerical simulation

Shambhavi Rai et al.

Summary: The double perovskite structured Cs2AgBiBr6 is attracting attention as a light harvester in perovskite solar cells. After testing various hole transporting materials, it was found that CuSbS2, MoO3, and Cu2O are the top three performing materials. By optimizing the thickness of the absorber and hole transporting layer, as well as the defect density in the absorber, the highest performing solar cell device was achieved with a power conversion efficiency of 9.98%.
